18×12 Timber Frame Pavilion in Jersey Shore, PA
There’s something special about creating an outdoor space that feels as solid and welcoming as the home beside it. For a residential client in Jersey Shore, PA, we had the opportunity to build an 18×12 timber frame pavilion that blends craftsmanship, durability, and timeless character into one stunning structure. From the first layout line to the final roof panel, this project was designed to turn a backyard into a place where family, friends, and everyday life naturally come together.
A backyard vision with lasting purpose
The homeowners wanted more than a simple shade structure. They were looking for a pavilion that would feel like an extension of their home—an outdoor gathering space with the warmth of traditional timber framing and the strength to stand up to Pennsylvania seasons. As a trusted residential timber frame pavilion contractor, our role was to bring that vision to life with materials and joinery that reflect true craftsmanship.

Located in Jersey Shore, PA, the project site called for a design that would complement the property while creating a comfortable, usable outdoor retreat. The final footprint, 18 by 12 feet, offered the right balance of presence and proportion for the backyard. It was large enough to host seating, dining, and relaxation, yet compact enough to fit neatly into the landscape without overwhelming it.
Craftsmanship built into every timber
This pavilion was built using circle sawn hemlock timbers, a material choice that brings natural texture and authentic character to the finished structure. The saw marks left in the wood provide a handcrafted appearance that immediately signals quality and tradition. For homeowners who appreciate rustic detail, this style of timber framing delivers a look that cannot be replicated with mass-produced outdoor structures.
Authentic mortise and tenon joinery
One of the defining features of this build was the use of mortise and tenon timber frame joinery. This traditional method has been used for centuries because of its strength and reliability. Each connection was carefully fitted to create a structure that is not only visually striking, but also engineered for long-term performance. A well-executed timber frame pavilion should feel sturdy from the moment you step under it—and this one does exactly that.
For clients searching for a custom timber frame pavilion near me or a timber frame pavilion builder near me, these details matter. The difference between a standard outdoor shelter and a true timber frame installation is in the precision, the materials, and the care behind every joint.
Designed for beauty and weather protection
To complete the structure, the pavilion was topped with a standing seam metal roof. This roofing choice gives the project a clean, refined finish while adding dependable protection from rain, snow, and seasonal weather changes. The roof lines work beautifully with the timber frame below, creating a balanced profile that feels both classic and contemporary.
The timber frame was finished with a soy-based rustic brown stain, which enriched the natural tone of the hemlock while enhancing the grain and texture of the wood. The stain color was selected to complement the home and surrounding outdoor setting, creating a warm, grounded appearance that will age gracefully over time. The result is a rustic brown soy based stain timber frame pavilion that looks right at home in a Pennsylvania residential landscape.

What the finished pavilion adds to the property
Beyond the materials and construction details, this project delivers something that homeowners value every day: a reason to spend more time outside. The finished pavilion creates a defined destination in the yard, giving the family a comfortable place for quiet mornings, evening meals, and weekend entertaining. It also adds lasting value by improving the function and visual appeal of the property.
